Taking positive action to turn the tide on climate change...
Sandgate Environmental Action (SEA) is a community action group, set up by The Sandgate Society in 2022 to take positive action to build a sustainable future for Sandgate and to turn the tide on climate change.
SEA has a collaborative approach and as well as its own projects, works to support other local, national and global sustainability and environmental initiatives. Our understanding of climate change and how we can combat it is fast developing and complex.
SEA aims to be a place where people can discuss, share and learn more about these issues that affect us all.
SEA believes that everybody can do something to make a positive difference; everybody can be part of the solution not the problem.
OUR ONGOING PROJECTS
It's important to us that we make a real change in our community, so we are always finding new ways and new projects to make our community better
Wild About Sandgate
We have recently received the exciting news that we have been awarded a £1000 grant from Folkestone and Hythe District Council for our Wild About Sandgate project with the end aim of creating a Community Nature Reserve in Sandgate. Basically the project aims to raise awareness of all the public green spaces in Sandgate, including the sea and shoreline by educating and enthusing people about everything that lives and grows in them. Alongside this, the project will support and encourage people to take positive action by making micro nature reserves in their own gardens, balconies or windowsills and lend the odd hand to volunteer groups like the Sandgate Sprucers, Sandgate Environmental Action and Sandgate Community Garden in keeping the public spaces however small, literally blooming beautiful and full of life. All these spaces together will create a patchwork of mini habitats across Sandgate which will link the areas, encouraging nature to flourish

Helping keep Sandgate beautiful and LITTER FREE
Fancy some exercise or an activity with your children or grandchildren that will also help your village? Then why not do some litter picking to help keep our village, sea and beaches litter free. Sandgate Parish Council have provided community litter picking kits, which are now available to borrow from outside of the library. Inside the chest are litter pickers, hoops, bags and gloves. There are 20 pickers in total so it is perfect for a group activity.

Thermal imaging surveys
Where there are suspected problems with the building fabric such as moisture ingress, condensation or where there is the perception that the thermal efficiency isn't what it should be, the use of thermography can provide excellent visual and quantitative evidence of the causes of the suspected problems.
